A Second Life for your Clothes

Have you ever wondered how long it’s been since you don’t use that shirt? The vast majority of people in the developed world have more clothes than they need and a large number of them have clothes they have never used. This is a waste of resources and something clearly evitable. ‘A second life for your clothes’ is a response to the compulsive purchases of textiles and the environmental impact this generates.

The second-hand clothing market is a reality that is also boosted by applications for buying and selling second-hand items and clothing in particular. This product wants to take advantage of one of the key points the circular economy has: reuse, which extends its life cycle to the maximum.

The purpose of the product and the main innovation is to give a double piece of information to the user: the specific date of last use of an item and the suggestion that it may be time to get rid of it. Thus, the consumer gains in social responsibility, encourages reuse and the circular economy, and finally earns money if he or she decides to sell the clothes.

Lately, the perception of the average user is clearly turning towards sustainability and green products, in a clear change in consumption habits. The usability of the product is easy: When the user goes home and changes his/her clothes, then must make a sign (scratch) on the marker of the specific date. Thus, the last signal will expose the last moment of use of the piece. In this regard, the user is involved without taking much time or asking for great efforts.

The materials that make up the product are printed cardboard and silver acrylic paint. For the fastening system, a cord and a safety pin. Its simple design and low manufacturing cost work in the product’s favor, as anyone can afford to buy it and there are no associated or maintenance costs.

The product responds to the need to drastically reduce the textile waste produced by the first world. It’s well known that the dyes in clothing are highly polluting, and as long as that doesn’t change, anything that keeps clothing in the market loop is clearly a positive thing for the environment. The textile industry is one of the largest in the world and responsible for huge amounts of C02 emissions into the atmosphere. The first precept of the circular economy is reuse, and this is the primary objective of implementing the product on a large scale.

We are more than happy to present our first own product projected to the circular economy! ‘A second life for your clothes’ is designed (and hopefully, manufactured) by Round Corner. For more information, visit our Services and Projects sections in the website, and our social media accounts as well.
